Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of neurofeedback-training on heart rate variability in teenager-girls with high level of aggression.

6 schoolgirls 12-13 years old participated in neurofeedback-training. Children were healthy, but according to the results of psychological testing was showed a high level of aggression. Stages of research: psychological (testing and diagnosis), physiological (a measurement of blood pressure and heart rate), and electroencephalographic researches (alpha-training). During the psychological stage by using the Buss-Durkee test was identified the level of aggression in schoolgirls. The alpha-training was registered using computer electroencephalograph „NeuroCom” with the specially created module “Neurofeedback-training" in it (KhaiMedica, Kharkiv, Ukraine). Participants were observed in a light- and sound-isolated room. The level of EEG alpha-band recorded from Fz site was used as a feedback signal. During each of the 10 sessions, alpha-training was registered the HRV in teenager-girls with high level 0f aggression.

We analyzed by spectral (VLF, LF, HF, LF/HF) and statistical (mRR, SDNN, Mean HR, STD HR, RMSSD, NN50, pNN50) parameters of HRV. After 10 neurofeedback-training procedures in teenager-girls with a high level of aggression was found to increase of parameters in heart rate variability, except indices: Mean HR, LF and LF/HF. Before the starting of alpha-training sessions in school-girls with high level of aggression was indicated increasing Kerdo Index while after alpha-training sessions there was a decrease in the index. The Kerdo Index, Mean HR, and LF/HF parameters were the most sensitive to decrease the level of aggression during the alpha-training sessions.
