The data on the incidence of this infection in people of different ages in the administrative regions of Ukraine has many indications. Namely: the disease has an uneven Spatio-temporal manifestation and is registered sporadically mainly with food and waterways of the pathogen's transmission mechanism.</p> <p>The material for the study was the statistical data of the official reports of the state institutions of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service (SES) and the State Food and Consumer Service. Since 2005, the incidence of campylobacteriosis has been 0.27–0.5 prosantimile. The situation is epidemiological campylobacteriosis in Ukraine has nothing to do with the actual situation of this infection and objectively shows a low level of laboratory diagnosis.</p> <p>&nbsp;In the nosological structure of infectious diseases in the population in Ukraine during 2011-2017, the proportion of campylobacteriosis did not exceed 0.2%. Contrasting morbidity levels characterized epidemiological situations into individual nosological forms and their uneven territorial distribution. The tensest epidemic situation was in the Odessa region. The median incidence of acute intestinal infections caused by other established pathogens exceeded the average Ukrainian.</p> <p>According to the official reports of the State Food and Consumer Service of Ukraine, monitoring of infectious diseases based on the results of microbiological studies for the period from 2011 to 2020 shows that campylobacteriosis in farm animals and poultry was not registered. The epizootological situation of campylobacteriosis in animals is stably prosperous for an extended period.</p> <p>The archive of reporting data of the Volyn Health Center on the epidemiological condition of campylobacteriosis in the Volyn region showed that from 2011 to 2021, the disease was not diagnosed. The reason for this situation is the insufficient level of bacteriological diagnosis.</p> <p>Our further research will focus on developing laboratory diagnostics of campylobacteriosis and the diagnosis of systemic epidemiological surveillance of the disease. At the same time the necessity of compared analysis of reactions developed on cellular and whole organism levels appears. This question is related to winter wheat. Due to this aim monitoring of reliable markers of organism viability developed both on cellular and organism levels is provided. There were used standard protocols of cell culture as well as biochemical methods and electrophoresis. Cell cultures of new perspective genotypes of winter wheat (author Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics, NAS of Ukraine) were obtained. According to biochemical data their development peculiarities were detected and compared with parameters of initial plants. There were no differences among genotypes developed under normal conditions. Plants as well as cell cultures initiated from those new winter wheat genotypes demonstrated metabolism changes depended on external conditions. Plant and cell proline parameters had similar features. The obtained results of the inventory are summarized and the Red List (RL) for the territory of Volyn region is updated and supplemented. The general criterions of species rarity (chorological, cenotic, population etc.) have been taken into account during compiling the RRL. We propose 165 species of vascular plants for the complex conservation in the region. According to the taxonomic structure they belong to 126 genera, 60 families, 42 orders, 4 classes and 3 divisions. We have analysed the current distribution of the regionally rare species based on literature, herbarium data (ID*; KW; KWHA; KWHU, KWU*; LW; LWKS; LUM*, LUU*, Herbariums of Shatsk national nature park (NP), NP «Prypyat-Stokhid», Cheremskyi nature reserve etc.) and field research. The primary assessment of the species’ population state and their main threats are identified. The most of the regionally rare species form small population loci with sporadic or diffuse spatial location and relatively low number of individuals; the projective plant cover is low (up to 5%). We assessed the conservation status of species for regional protection level based on IUCN categorization. Thus, the plant species identified in the territory of Volyn region, belong to seven Red List Categories: RE (Regionally Extinct) – 1, CR (Critically Endangered) – 2, EN (Endangered) – 10, VU (Vulnerable) – 68, NT (Near Threteaned)<br>Нотатки сучасної біології Notes in Current Biology – 53, LC (Least Concern) – 10, DD (Data Deficient) – 21. The material of the study was the seeds of winter rye (Secale cereale L.) varieties Synthetic 38 and Zabava, and compositions of metabolically active substances: vitamin E (10 -8 M), peraoxybenzoic acid (POBA) (0,001%), methionine (0,001%), ubiquinone-10 (10 -8 M) and MgSO4 (0,001%), which were used in the following compositions – vitamin E+POBA+methionine, vitamin E+POBA+methionine+MgSO4 , vitamin E+ubiquinone-10. For the first time, presowing treatment of seeds with the studied compositions was performed and research was carried out on the content of products of free radical oxidation of lipids, antioxidant vitamins, and activity of antioxidant enzymes in the grain of winter rye varieties Syntetyk 38 and Zabava. The effectiveness of vitamin E+POBA+methionine+MgSO4 and vitamin E+ubiquinone-10 compositions in increasing the content of low-molecular-weight antioxidant vitamins (ascorbic acid and carotenoids), reducing the activity of antioxidant enzymes (catalase and ascorbate peroxidase) and the content of lipid free radical oxidation products was demonstrated in winter rye grains of the Sintetyk 38 and Zabava varieties. The vitamin E+POBA+methionine+MgSO4 composition demonstrated the most effectiveness in this regard. The demonstrated increase in the content of antioxidants in winter rye grain can increase the nutritional value of products made from this grain. The topic is relevant today, as in large areas there is a significant anthropogenic impact.</p> <p>The aim of the work was to investigate rare species of flora in the region. The article summarizes the materials of studying the flora and vegetation of this part of Chernihiv region for the last 25 years. In the course of the research the methods generally accepted in geobotany were used.</p> <p>The article presents the characteristics and features of the distribution of species of international protection, which grow within the Left Bank Forest-Steppe of Chernihiv region. The composition and protection of species that are rare at the state and regional levels are also analyzed. There are 87 species of rare plants in the phytocenoses of the forest-steppe part of Chernihiv region. The most valuable component of the flora is the species of international protection. Therefore, the article describes the peculiarities of the distribution in this area of ​​6 species listed in the Annex to the Berne Convention. The list of all rare species is given in the form of a table. Their nature protection status, approximate number of locations in the region and provision of protection on the territories of the nature reserve fund of the region are indicated.</p> <p>Many rare species are already protected in the territories of nature reserves. The largest number of them is growing within the Ichnia National Nature Park.</p> <p>The largest number of species is represented in the families <em>Orchidaceae</em> (10 species), <em>Cyperaceae </em>(8 species), <em>Ranunculaceae</em> (7 species). For most species in the study region, we indicate 2-5 locations.</p> <p>Emphasis is placed on declining species, and conservation needs to be improved.</p> <p>The nature reserve network of the study area includes more than 70 objects. For the first time, 74 species of algae, represented by 85 intraspecific taxa, including the nomenclature type of the species, were identified in the phytoplankton of the Hlybochok River.<br>Phytoplankton of the Hlybochok River was characterized as green-eugleno-diatomaceous by the number of species and intraspecific taxa, as well as the composition of the leading genera. For the first time, 9 species (11 v.v.t.) were identified - new for Ukrainian Polissya.<br>In the structure of the phytoplankton of the watercourse, the leading role belonged to planktonic forms, oligogalobals-indifferent in relation to halo, indifferent in relation to pH and rheophilicity of waters and their oxygen saturation. The predominance of saprobity indicators corresponding to class III water quality was noted in the watercourse, but class II indicators are also statistically significant.</p> <p>The frequency of occurrence in the phytoplankton of the Hlybochok River was dominated by blue-green (average frequency reached<br>13.6%), green (7.7%), diatoms (6.2%) and euglenae algae (4.8%). The maximum frequency of occurrence were: Chlamydomomas globosa Snow (67%), Oscillatoria amphibia Ag. ex Gom. (55%), Oscillatoria planctonicа Wolosz. (41%), Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (Lyngb.) Breb. (31%), Traсhelomonas volvocina Ehrb. (33%).<br>The average biomass during 2019–2020 was 2,17  0,15 mg / dm3, the number was 56,15  1,30 million cells / dm3. Structural departments in the formation of biomass in the spring were – Dinophyta (32%), Chlorophyta (26%), Cyanoprokaryota (24%), in the summer – Cyanoprokaryota (80%), Chlorophyta (10%), in autumn – Cyanoprokaryota (78%), Chlorophyta (10%).<br>According to the phytoplankton biomass and the intensity of photosynthesis, the Hlybochok River belongs to the III class of water<br>quality. (Amaryllidaceae J.St.-Hil.) https://journalbio.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/bio/article/view/568 <p>The morphological structure and vascular anatomy of the flower of <em>Allium cepa</em> were studied. New morphological features of the vertical zonality of the gynoecium and the vascular anatomy of the flower, which were not previously used in the taxonomy of the <em>Amaryllidaceae</em> family, were revealed. Micromorphological preparations of 15 <em>Allium cepa</em> flowers were prepared using standard methods of impregnation. Sections of a flower at the bud stage with a thickness of 15-20 μmusing a rotary microtome were described. We established the presence of three vertical zones in the <em>Allium cepa</em> gynoecium: a synascidiate zone was present at the locule base, a symplicate structural zone above, which contains the ovules, and a hemisym plicate zone, which occupies the upper part of the locule. The micromorphology and vascular anatomy of the flower were studied using transverse sections of flowers. The peduncle in <em>Allium cepa</em> contains 6 vascular bundles at the base, which at a higher level give rise to 12 vascular bundles, traces of tepals and traces of stamens; dorsal vascular bundlesdepart higher. The dorsal carpel bundles were single-bundled. In the center of the ovary, a vascular cylinder was formed from small vascular bundles, which were reorganized higher at the level of the appearance of the locules into three semilunar vascularbundles - the roots of the ventral complex. Above, these bundles reorganized into 6 massive vascular bundles and supplied ovules – ventral bundles of carpel. There were two ovules in each locule, the trace of the ovules was single-bundle. Above the ovary locules, the ventral and dorsal bundles of the carpel end blindly. Traces of outer and inner tepals and traces of stamens was single-bundled.</p> <p>The new data we obtained helped to deepen the knowledge about the morphology and vascular anatomy of the <em>Allium cepa</em> flower and will help to compare the obtained morphological and anatomical features with the features previously studied for representatives of the <em>Amaryllidaceae </em>family for their further using in taxonomy.</p> Oksana Fishchuk Copyright (c) 2022 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 https://journalbio.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/bio/article/view/568 Thu, 30 Jun 2022 00:00:00 +0000 The state of the antioxidant system of a patient with Escherichia coli infection after and during the transition to hypobiosis state https://journalbio.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/bio/article/view/571 <p>The using of hypobiosis for animals is considered as one of the promising ways to fight Escherichia coli infection. At the same time, the state of the antioxidant system of the body remains unknown. Therefore, the aim of the study was to study the activity of antioxidant enzymes in the liver of young rats being at the different stages of E. coli infection, when applied to them hypobiosis and after hypobiosis state. It is established that the transition of hypobiosis of animals being at the I stage of E. coli infection activates SOD, catalase but the indexes of the glutathione system are decreased. On the 1st and 3rd day, respectively, after the cessation of hypobiosis, there is a normalization of the studied values at the control. With the transition of animals into a state of hypobiosis in the II and III disease stages the SOD and catalase activity increased and the content of reduced glutathione were significantly reduced. Indexes stabilized after 3 and 6 days after cessation of hypobiosis. We performed Martine-Kushelevsky test with the determination of pulse and BP at rest, as well as after physical exercise. Ade-quacy of cardiac response to exercise was assessed by Robinson index. To determine the functional state of the respiratory system the spirography method was used, and functional tests by Stange and Henci were performed. The indexes of cardiovascular system activity, which were studied at rest, were within physiological norms for 17-18 years old students. However, elevated BP was detected in some students. The indices of cardiovascular system activity after dosed physical activity approached the initial level, which indicates its adequate adaptive capabilities. The analysis of individual reactions to physical load showed that the majority of the examined responded to the load of normotonic type. Robinson index values were observed to be above average and within the norm in most students, but some students had below average and low values, which indicates impaired regulation of cardiovascular system. It was found that the average indices of the functional state of respiratory system among boys and girls corresponded to the physiological norm. Duration of voluntary respiratory arrest on a breath in and on an exhalation as well as value of the Skibin index at students of young age are at level of the physiological normative values peculiar to the given age period. This indicates a good level of non-specific adaptive capabilities. Intranasal administration of SNP to rats with alcohol dependence was carried out at a dose 8 μg/kg body weight twice a day on the background of alcohol withdrawal for 3 days. Nitric oxide metabolites (nitrites, nitrates; NOx) and BDNF concentration were measured in the brain structures and serum. Chronic alcohol consumption leads to a decrease of NOx and BDNF content in brain structures and BDNF concentration in serum in rats under alcohol withdrawal. SNP restores NOx level in the brain and BDNF concentration in serum on the background of NOx level decrease in serum. In the minds of the pandemic, the Ukrainian lands have directed their efforts to the fight against the acute respiratory disease COVID-19. Scientific knowledge in the field of medicine has directed its efforts towards the development of that understanding of the biological basis of the pathophysiology of COVID-19.</p> <p>Regardless of the completion of that important achievement in medicine, the fight against these infectious diseases is overwhelmed with folding tasks. The disease of the respiratory tract COVID-19 creates a significant risk for a healthy person and leads to a significant number of fatal depressions in the whole world. Today, the nutrition of diagnostics, education and prevention of coronovirus infection is becoming more relevant.</p> <p>The article presents up-to-date data about the century and the article characterization of patients with COVID-19 diagnosed on the basis of the Volyn Regional Infectious Diseases Clinic for 2020-2021. According to biological features – both of them are saproxylic and fungicolous, whose existence are connected with primeval or old-growth forests ecosystems.</p> <p><em>Phloeostichus denticollis </em>Redtenbacher, 1842 – very rare, relict boreo-alpine species with European-Caucasian type of species distribution. In Ukraine it was known by finds from Transcarpathian region for almost one hundred years ago and from Crimea. As relict species they are protected in many countries, in Ukraine they are not entered into the protection list. Obviously, it’s due to the absence of recent founds and absent data of distribution on the territory of Ukraine. Four samples of Ph. denticollis were found during stationary entomological research during 2018-2019&nbsp; on the upper limit of the forest of the Yavirnyk mountain range, one of mountain massif of north-western part of the Polonynian Beskids of Ukrainian Carpathians.The forests plot, where the species was detected, are presented by phytocenosis of predominance of Fagus sylvatica and Acer pseudoplatanus aged more than 150 years. All plot areas are covered by lying dead wood on different stages of decomposition, inhabited by different saproxylic fungi, mosses and lichens.<em>P</em><em>h</em><em>.</em><em>&nbsp;</em><em>denticollis</em> Redt – saproxylic-fungivores species, life cycle of which is connected with deadwood and fungi inhabiting it. Wood residues of living or dead sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus) create a microhabitat for beetle’s larvas, which feed on fruit bodies of ascomycetes Prosthecium pyriforme on anamorph stage Sepedonium, which grow in the thickness of this tree bark.Inhabitant of nature forest, especially with addition of Acer pseudoplatanus or Acer platanoides, Phloeostichus most often occur under bark of old sycamore, less often under beech (Fagus sylvatica) bark. <em><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Derodontus_macularis&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1">Derodontus macularis</a></em>&nbsp;(Fuss, 1850) - european species with limited distribution. In Ukraine <em>D. macularis</em> is known from Ukrainian Carpathian.</p> <p>In general, on all territories where D. macularis was found it occurs rarely and sporadicly. Distributed in well-preserved deciduous and mixed forests, with lots of dead wood and high humidity.</p> <p>It is considered as relict of natural forests. Included into the primeval relict saproxylic species list <em>D.macularis</em> is demanding some environmental conditions, especially to humidity and availability of habitat fungi: <em>Ischnoderma</em> <em>resinosum</em> (Schrad.) і <em>I. benzoinum</em> (Wahlenb.). The first record of Myotis alcathoe in Ternopil oblast https://journalbio.vnu.edu.ua/index.php/bio/article/view/570 <p>The work represents the results of the bat fauna survey in the Kremenetski Hory National Nature Park and adjacent areas, where, in 2018–2019 years, we recorded 12 bat species. Four of them (<em>Myotis alcathoe, M.&nbsp;bechsteinii, M.&nbsp;dasycneme, M.&nbsp;nattereri</em>) were recorded for the first time in the study area. The find of <em>Myotis alcathoe</em> is the first record of the species in Ternopil oblast and one of the few in Ukraine as a whole. The Kremenets mine was surveyed in different seasons, and 10 bat species were found there. The mine is an important bat hibernacula (in winter 2019, over 250 bat individuals were recorded here), as well as the autumn swarming site.
